Transfer to the hotel

Afternoon transfer to the famous Blue Lagoon. The Blue Lagoon is located in an extensive, 800-year-old lava field in the heart of the Reykjanes peninsula – a UNESCO Geopark. The thermal spa is on the National Geographic list of 25 Wonders of the World and is considered a geothermal gift of nature.

The lagoon is famous for its heavenly, milky-blue water. The water has a temperature of 39°C all year round and is rich in silicic acid and minerals. Take a dip in the lagoon, apply a silica mud mask and enjoy a complimentary drink at the swim-up bar.

The tour starts in Reykjavik and takes you first to Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its geological significance and its historical importance as the seat of Iceland’s first parliament. Here, visitors can explore the dramatic rift valley where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet.

Next, head to the geothermal area in Haukadalur, home to the famous geysers, including Geysir and Strokkur. Strokkur, which erupts every few minutes, offers an exhilarating spectacle as it hurls boiling water up to 30 meters into the air.

The last major stop is the magnificent Gullfoss or “Golden Waterfall”,” where visitors can admire the mighty glacial river plunging into a deep gorge, forming an impressive double waterfall. The beauty of Gullfoss is particularly impressive as rainbows can often be seen on sunny days.

On this day we will enjoy a drive along the south coast of Iceland. This coastal road offers views of glacier tongues, waterfalls, rugged hills, black sand beaches and the famous volcanoes.

We drive to the 60 m high Seljalandsfoss waterfall. You can walk behind the waterfall, but dress well as the water mist behind the waterfall can get you wet. Next, we admire the majestic Skógafoss waterfall. It is one of the most powerful waterfalls in the country, 60 m high and 25 m wide. Due to the amount of spray that the waterfall constantly produces, a single or double rainbow can usually be seen on sunny days.

Next, we stop at the black sand beach of Reynisfjara to view the geological formation and the roaring waves. Be careful not to get too close as the waves can be dangerous. Before heading back to Reykjavík, we visit Vík í Mýrdal, a seaside village located in the shadow of the Mýrdalsjökull glacier that covers the Katla volcano.
