Make your own way to your hotel in Reykjavík. Airport transfers can be arranged through us.

Accommodation in Reykjavík is included in your tour package.

Be ready at 08:00 in the lobby of your hotel. Pick-up for the tour takes place between 08:00-08:30, so the bus can come to you at any time during this period. Our buses are white and have the Snæland Grímsson logo on them.

Once everyone is on board, we will take you southeast to the south coast of Iceland for a day full of fantastic views and experiences.

Seljalandsfoss
Our first stop of the day is Seljalandsfoss waterfall, one of the most famous waterfalls in Iceland. This 60 metre high waterfall is unique in that visitors can walk behind the cascades, which is an unforgettable experience. Just remember to wear waterproof clothing as the waterfall creates a considerable spray.

Skógafoss waterfall
A little further east along the coast and at the foot of the famous Eyjafjallajökull volcano is the breathtaking Skógafoss waterfall. This mighty waterfall plunges 60 metres into the depths and has a width of 25 metres, making for a breathtaking spectacle. You can climb to the top for a breathtaking view, or explore the base to feel the mist of the waterfall. Skógafoss is not only visually stunning, but also rich in legends and history, making it a must-see on our trip. Do not miss the chance to take unforgettable photos at this iconic location.

Reynisfjara black sand beach
Next, discover the unique beauty of Reynisfjara. This world-famous black sand beach is famous for its impressive basalt columns, powerful Atlantic waves and striking Reynisdrangar sea stacks. Whether you marvel at the geological formations or listen to the legends surrounding the area, Reynisfjara offers a fascinating experience.

The village of Vík to our accommodation
We continue our journey through the picturesque village of Vík, which lies beneath the Mýrdalsjökull glacier, and drive on to our accommodation. The drive from Vík is a breathtaking journey along the south coast of Iceland. You will cross dramatic black sand deserts and pass fields of green, moss-covered lava. On the route you will see majestic glaciers such as Vatnajökull, the largest glacier in Europe, and the picturesque Skaftafell National Park. You will cross glacial rivers and picturesque landscapes, with the scenery constantly changing. Our accommodation is located directly east of the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, which we will explore in detail on the second day.

Northern Lights
We spend the night in a country hotel, which offers an ideal environment for observing the Northern Lights due to the low light pollution, as there is no town nearby. From September to March, with clear skies and a favourable aurora forecast, we can watch the magic of the Northern Lights directly from the hotel. Please note that the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and their appearance cannot be guaranteed.

Prepare for a day of adventure today as we explore the realm of the great Vatnajökull glacier, the largest glacier in Europe.

The crystal blue ice cave
The crystal blue ice cave is a remarkable phenomenon. Every winter, new caves are formed due to the constant melting and freezing of the glacier. A trip into an ice cave offers an extraordinary opportunity to capture the blue light that penetrates the glacial ice. You will be enveloped by remarkably deep shades of blue caused by the compression of the ice. During our exploration, we come across deep cracks known as crevasses, amazing, almost cylindrical vertical shafts carved by the meltwater from the glacier’s surface, and remarkable icefalls that look like waterfalls but are made of ice.

Drive from our hotel to the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon. From there we drive off-road in a converted super jeep to the Vatnajökull glacier. During this scenic drive, you will witness the impressive glacier landscape. Upon arrival at the ice cave, you will receive the necessary glacier and safety equipment and our experienced guides will lead you into this magical blue world. Our local guides are highly professional and know their way around ice caves, so you are in good and knowledgeable hands. After exploring the caves for about an hour, we drive back to Jökulsárlón.

Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon
We will also take time to explore the breathtaking glacier lagoon. This 200-metre-deep lake is filled with floating icebergs from the nearby Breiðamerkurjökull glacier, an offshoot of Vatnajökull. The stunning blue water and surreal landscapes make the lake an absolute must-see, offering breathtaking views and unique photo opportunities.

Diamond Beach
Diamond Beach is a stunning black sand beach just across from Jökulsárlón, where icebergs wash ashore from the lagoon. The ice fragments glitter like diamonds on the dark sand, creating an impressive and surreal landscape. It is also a popular spot for photographers and nature lovers.

Return to Reykjavík
We drive back to Reykjavík, with an estimated arrival time of around 20:00 – 21:00. The itinerary on both days depends on road conditions and weather. The guide may decide to skip a visit on day 1 and schedule it for the return trip to Reykjavík on day 2 instead.
