Itinerary
You arrive in Kathmandu and are greeted with garlands of marigolds before being taken to your hotel. Use this day to relax and acclimatize to the vibrant capital. Explore the bustling local markets, sample traditional Nepalese dishes and immerse yourself in Kathmandu’s rich cultural offerings. This first day sets the stage for your adventure and promises breathtaking experiences on your way to Everest Base Camp in the Khumbu region. Our Nepalese partner, Mr. Narendra Bohara, a Natura-Tours representative, will meet you at the international airport to ensure a smooth and hospitable arrival.
We start the Everest Base Camp trek with a short morning flight from Kathmandu or Ramechhap to Lukla airport. If no direct flight to Lukla is available, we leave Kathmandu around 2to 3 am and drive to Ramechhap, which is about 132 km southeast of the city. The drive usually takes 4to 5 hours. After arriving in Ramechhap, we take our flight to Lukla.
At Lukla airport you will meet your porter and after a short tea break we will set off on our trek to Phakding. Today’s stage involves an ascent of 170 meters and a descent of 380 meters, covering a distance of about 7.9 km on foot, which will take you about 3-4 hours.
In Phakding, a charming village and the largest town in the area, most trekkers spend their first night in the mountains. Lunch is taken either halfway or on arrival in Phakding, depending on your preference. After some free time, you will meet with your guide in the hotel lobby to discuss the evening’s activities and the plan for the next day. You will spend the night at Hotel Sherpa or a similar standard hotel in Phakding.
Please note that seats cannot be reserved in advance; seats are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. There is a weight limit of 15 kg (33 lbs.) for your luggage: 10 kg at check-in and 5 kg for hand luggage. If you exceed these limits, you will be charged a substantial fee per kilogram.
We start the day with breakfast at the lodge before packing our bags and setting off for Namche Bazaar. The hike begins with a gentle ascent, crossing several suspension bridges and walking through lush pine forests. Over a distance of about 10 km, we will ascend 900 meters and descend 140 meters, which will take us about 6-7 hours.
As we gain altitude, we will enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and pass through traditional Sherpa villages. The trail offers panoramic views of the Everest region and crosses the Dudh Koshi River where we will see dramatic river gorges and terraced fields.
Lunch will be arranged either halfway or on arrival in Namche Bazaar, depending on your preference. This bustling center is the gateway to the Everest region and offers lively markets and outstanding views of the surrounding mountains. You will stay at the Hotel Zambala, Nirvana Home or a similar standard hotel in Namche Bazaar.
On your rest day in Namche Bazar, you have the choice of relaxing in the town or taking an optional day hike to Khunde via the Everest View Hotel. The hike to Everest View Hotel involves an ascent of 540 meters and a descent of 540 meters. The distance is about 5.4 km and usually takes 3-4 hours. Enjoy refreshments at the hotel while taking in the panoramic views of Mount Everest.
If you opt for the extended trek to Khunde and Khumjung, the round trip is about 8.15 km and takes 5-6 hours. During this hike, you will ascend 550 meters in altitude and descend 550 meters in altitude. On the way, you can admire the breathtaking views of Everest, Lhotse and Ama Dablam and explore the charming village of Khunde.
On the way back to Namche Bazaar, you will have time to relax and take in the natural splendor of the Khumbu region. Whether you choose to explore the town or hike, you can be sure that you will have an unforgettable and enriching experience in the heart of the Himalayas.
Overnight in Namche Bazaar is at Zambala Hotel, Nirvana Garden Home or a lodge of similar standard.

The trek covers around 9.65 kilometers and usually takes 5 to 6 hours. During the journey, you will ascend 770 meters and descend 330 meters. Known for its historic monastery and breathtaking views, Tengboche offers a peaceful setting to reflect and enjoy the majestic Himalayan scenery.
You will stay overnight in Tengboche at Tashi Delek Lodge or a lodge of a similar standard to ensure a comfortable and relaxing stay amidst these spectacular surroundings.
Embark on a captivating trek from Tengboche via Pangboche to Ama Dablam Base Camp, a journey that reveals the heart of the Himalayas with its breathtaking views and pristine landscapes. From Tengboche, you follow a scenic trail that winds through lush forests and charming Sherpa villages. On the way, you will pass through Pangboche, a picturesque village known for its ancient monastery and traditional Sherpa culture. When you reach Ama Dablam Base Camp at an altitude of 4,600 meters, you will be greeted with an unparalleled view of the majestic mountain. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery, savor the moment and create lasting memories of this extraordinary experience.
After spending some time at the base camp, you can explore the breathtaking Himalayan scenery on the way back to Tengboche and further immerse yourself in the rich cultural heritage of the region. The trek from Tengboche to Ama Dablam Base Camp is approximately 8.95 kilometers long and usually takes 5 to 6 hours, with an ascent of 880 meters and a descent of 160 meters. Overnight at Ama Dablam Base Camp is at the Ama Dablam Base Camp Lodge or a lodge of a similar standard.
The trek from Ama Dablam Base Camp via Pangboche to Dingboche is a captivating journey through the rugged terrain and majestic landscapes of the Himalayas. From the base camp, which lies amidst towering peaks, you descend to the picturesque village of Dingboche.
The route takes you along rocky trails, through pristine rivers and Sherpa villages, allowing you to immerse yourself in the rich cultural heritage of the region. The approximately 9.65-kilometer trail usually takes 5 to 6 hours to complete. During the hike, you will ascend 370 meters in altitude and descend 650 meters in altitude. The overnight stay in Dingboche is in the Hotel Tashi Delek, in the Mountain Paradise Lodge or in a lodge of a comparable standard.

When you reach Lukla, you will be greeted by the vibrant atmosphere and bustling streets. This bustling town provides the perfect setting to reflect on your trek and celebrate the incredible experiences you have had on your journey in the Everest region.
The trek from Monjo to Lukla via Phakding is about 12.60 kilometers long and usually takes 5 to 6 hours. During this trek you will ascend 410 meters and descend 340 meters. Accommodation for the overnight stay in Lukla is organized either at Buddha Lodge, Himalaya Lodge or a lodge of comparable standard.
Start the day with an early morning flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. If a direct flight is not available, you will first fly to Ramechhap, a 20-30 minute drive that offers breathtaking views of the Everest region from the air. After landing in Ramechhap at 474 meters (1,555 feet), you move from the high altitudes of the Himalayas to the lower altitudes of the Kathmandu Valley.
From Ramechhap, a private vehicle will take you to Kathmandu. The scenic drive of around 132 kilometers takes about 4 to 5 hours and takes you through picturesque landscapes, terraced fields and charming villages on your way to the vibrant capital.
After your arrival in Kathmandu, check into your hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure, whether you want to do some last-minute shopping, explore the sights you missed or simply recover from your trekking adventure. You will spend the night in the Kathmandu Guest House or in a hotel of a comparable standard in the vibrant district of Thamel.
This additional buffer day in Kathmandu is provided to compensate for unforeseen delays or disruptions to flights from Lukla, which are often caused by sudden changes in the weather. The unpredictable weather in the Himalayas can sometimes lead to flight cancelations or delays, so this extra day is a valuable precaution to ensure you have enough time to complete your trip without stress.
On this day you will have the opportunity to explore Kathmandu further with local sightseeing tours, which can be arranged on request. These tours are not included in the original trekking package and the cost will vary depending on the destinations you choose and the service you require. You can hire both a guide and a vehicle for an even more personalized experience. Please note that entrance fees are charged for all UNESCO World Heritage Sites and other attractions.
You will stay at the Kathmandu Guest House or a hotel of a similar standard in the vibrant Thamel district. This guarantees you a comfortable and convenient stay while you wait for your onward journey.
After enjoying your last breakfast in Nepal, you should check out of your room and store your luggage at the hotel. You can relax in the hotel lobby or explore the local market to do some last minute shopping for friends and family before heading to the airport.
The driver and airport escort will be waiting for you in the hotel lobby at the agreed departure time, which we will confirm after your trekking feedback meeting with Mr. Narendra Bohara.
As space at Kathmandu airport is limited, the airlines ask passengers to arrive at the check-in counter three hours before the departure time. To accommodate this, we will pick you up from your hotel three and a half hours before your flight. The estimated travel time to the airport is approximately 30 minutes.
